Sevens Squad Announced Head Coach Richards Hodges has announced the squad to travel to the Abercynon sevens on Sunday. The squad has a mixture of international experience as well as Cardiff Premiership regulars and new players. Jamie Ringer captains the squad that includes Wales sevens caps Gareth Davies and Rhys Shellard. At scrumhalf, Rhys Dyer formerly of the Wanderers joins Owen Ruttley. Up front newcomer Kris Barry joins Dan Partridge, with the pace being added in the backs by Matthew John. The full squad is Jamie Ringer (Capt) Rhys Shellard Dan Partridge Kris Barry Owen Ruttley Rhys Dyer Gareth Davies Steve Taylor Matthew John Rhys Howells Cardiff play their first game in the tournament at 12.40pm The rest of the squad continue their preparation meanwhile for the season ahead. Twice a week the coaching staff put them through their paces with new training techniques including fun days such as ‘sports day’.  This week they got to grips with the laws as referee James Jones joined the training to answer questions and explain a referee’s interpretation of various laws. 
Cardiff’s first 15 a side game is away to Bargoed on Saturday 7th Aug (2.30pm) with the league fixtures kicking off three weeks later at home to Carmarthen Quins.
